Lot Notes: Known locally as Jember, S795 variety is a hybrid between arabica & liberica S288 and kent variety. The resultant S795 cultivar exhibits rust resistance, high yield, and a good cup profile, making it a highly desirable cultivar.
This lot is from 400 small farm holders. Often this coffee is grown in small plots in backyards and personal coffee gardens.
We named this lot after our founding partner Vaughn Neblock, He started with the Folgers Coffee Company in Kansas City in 1945 when he was 18 years old. By 1958, he had become the head green buyer. He trained many specialty coffee pioneers in how to cup coffees properly. He was a true visionary in quality control
Today, this coffee is supplied to us by our friends Craig & Susan Owens at Santiang Exports. They work with small producers to help make improvements in drying, sorting and process control. In addition to this, they are also meticulous about record keeping and consistency which makes them invaluable as our boots on the ground!
